ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Senior outside hitters
Katie Beale (Stuart, Fla./Martin County HS) and
Justine Burkhardt (St. Augustine, Fla./Winthrop U.) as well as junior middle blocker
Meg Weathersby (Maitland, Fla./Orangewood Christian) were named All-Southeast Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Beale, Burkhardt and Weathersby were selected to the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Team last week. Beale was a first team selection while Burkhardt and Weathersby were named to the second team.
The three are now eligible for the AVCA All-America Team which will be released at a later date.
Beale leads the team with 506 kills and her 488 digs are just seven shy of setting a school single-season record. She leads the team with 21 double-doubles. She earned Southeast Region All-Tournament honors and was an All-Peach Belt Conference first team selection. Beale also earned PBC Player of the Week honors earlier in the season.
Burkhardt, a senior outside hitter, has 423 kills, 450 digs and a team-leading 61 service aces. She also earned Southeast Region All-Tournament and All-Peach Belt honors as well as being selected to the preseason All-PBC Team.
Weathersby, a junior middle blocker, has 484 kills, 328 digs, 84 total blocks, 56 aces and leads the team with a .240 attack percentage. She earned Southeast Region All-Tournament and All-Peach Belt honors like Beale and Burkhardt. Weathersby is a three-time Conference Player of the Week selection.
Other members of the All-Region team are: Lauren Billo, Stormi Gale, Maggie Malone and Liz Willis of Wingate University; Jessica Howard of Augusta State University; Whitney Justice and Luana Rocha of Lees-McRae College; Mai Zoua Lo of Catawba College; and, Michele Remlinger, Kristin Standhardinger and Kathrin Standhardinger of Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Honorable mention selections were: Stephanie Cutter of Carson-Newman College; Racey Bartley of Mount Olive College; Melissa McCracken of Lander University; Melissa Thomas of Limestone College; Amanda Horenkamp of Lincoln Memorial University; and, Shay Meeks of Catawba College.
Region Freshman of the Year went to Kristin Standhardinger of Armstrong Atlantic.
Flagler (35-8) will take on Dowling College Thursday (Dec. 3) at noon Central in a quarterfinal match of the NCAA Division II National Volleyball Championship at St. Paul, Minn.
