EVANS, Ga. − Joseph Toby (Jacksonville, Fla./Wolfson HS) scored the game winning goal in the 83rd minute to send No. 1 seed Flagler College into the Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship Match on Sunday. Flagler defeated the University of Montevallo 3-2 Friday night at Blanchard Woods Park and will now face No. 2 seed Lander University at 3:30 p.m.

Flagler (14-5-1) got on the board first when Mack Hough (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) converted a penalty kick in the 14th minute.

The lead was short lived as Matt Maughn scored an unassisted equalizer in the 20th minute for the Falcons and the score would stay knotted at 1-1 to the half.

Adam Jackson (Nottingham, England/Bilborough College) headed in a corner kick off Kevin Partel’s (St. Augustine, Fla./St. Joseph Academy) boot in the 52nd minute to put Flagler back up on top.

Montevallo’s (10-7-1) Milan Pualic tied up again with as he scored off of a give-and-go cross from Nathaniel Foster and Austin McIntosh in the 76th minute.

Will Frandsen (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) put a shot on goal which Falcon keeper Robert Mueller stopped, but the ball got away and Toby, the PBC Freshman of the Year, tapped in the winning shot.

Matt Gilman (Ocala, Fla./Jacksonville U.) recorded four saves for the Saints while Mueller tallied five for the Falcons.

Shots were even at 13 apiece, but Flagler held a slight advantage in corner kicks 5-4.

Flagler will now try to atone for its lone loss in the conference this season, a 1-0 set-back to Lander on Oct. 10 at Saints Field.
