Flagler is No. 36 in the final fall Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.
CLEVELAND, Ohio − Flagler College is in a tie for 36th place in the final fall Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings for NCAA Division II members, which was released Wednesday morning. The next standings will be released March 18 and the final winter standings will be issued on April 1.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 14 sports – seven women’s and seven men’s.

Flagler tallied a total of 108 points as it earned 83 points from the volleyball team finishing in a tie for third at the national championships and 25 points from the men’s soccer team advancing to the Southeast Regional.

Columbus State University earned the most points from a Peach Belt Conference member with 126 and is in a tie for 28th place. Flagler is second followed by Armstrong Atlantic State University in 40th place with 100 points.

Sitting at the top of the standings is Grand Valley State University with 380 points on the strength of winning the women’s soccer title and were national runners-up in women’s cross country and football.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − The Flagler College athletic department has announced the hiring of five new staff members for the 2010-11 season. Nicole Boone will be an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team, Andrew Garcia will be an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team, Jonathan Holt will be an assistant coach for the baseball team, Meghan Lammerding will be the head coach of the cheerleaders and Steven Samples comes in as an assistant athletic trainer.

AUGUSTA, Ga. − The Peach Belt Conference has announced that 1,080 student-athletes have been named to the Presidential Honor Roll from the league office in Augusta. Flagler College put 90 of its student-athletes on the honor roll. The Presidential Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes at the 13 PBC member institutions who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.
