VALDOSTA, Ga. − Shakeda Richie came off the bench to score a game-high 13 points to help Valdosta State University to a 50-35 win over Flagler College in a non-conference women’s basketball game Thursday night at the P.E. Center. The Blazers extend their win streak to four games and raised their record to 19-7. The Saints lost their second in a row and fell to 4-23.

A 19-2 run by Valdosta State early in the first half erased a 3-2 lead by Flagler and gave VSU a commanding 21-5 lead, one it would not relinquish.

The Blazers held a 25-12 lead at the half and led by as many as 21 (40-19) with 13:50 left in the second half. Over the next 7:24 the Saints cut the deficit to 10 (43-33) with their own 14-3 run, but could not get any closer.

Michelle Thompson added six points, five assists and four steals while Tamika Booker chipped in with seven points and seven rebounds. Jenia Babina tallied six points and seven rebounds for the Blazers.

Jen Mitchell (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Lake HS) led Flagler with nine points while Jalisa Foster (St. Petersburg, Fla./Pinellas Park HS) added eight points and seven rebounds.

Flagler will host the National Independent Tournament next weekend. The tournament schedule will be announced soon.
