Three Flagler golfers place in State Public Links Championships

ORLANDO, Fla. − Flagler College’s Chris Bray (Hilliard, Fla./Hilliard HS), Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) and Steven Davis (Orange Park, Fla./Fleming Island HS) participated in the 18th Florida State Public Links Championship which concluded last Sunday (June 14) at the Grande Pines Golf Club (par 72; 6,869 yards).

Bray finished in a four-way tie for 10th place with 5-over par 221. He carded an even-par 72 in the final round after shooting a 73 and 76 in the first two rounds, respectively. Dahlenburg finished in a five-way tie for 22nd place with a 12-over 228 (75-75-78). Davis came in 34th place, along with five other golfers, with a 16-over 232 (75-77-80).

Tommy Mou of Bradenton won the championship with a 12-under 204, holding off Thomas Murray of Orange Park by four strokes. Only four players shot under par.

The Flagler men’s golf season gets underway on Sept. 6 at the Kiawah Island (S.C.) Invitational, hosted by three-time NCAA Division II champion University of South Carolina-Aiken.

WILSON, N.C. − The 21st-ranked (Golf World/NIKE Division II Coaches Poll) Flagler College men’s golf team leads the 15-team field by three strokes over the host school, 10th-ranked Barton College, in the Holiday Inn & Express Suites Barton College Intercollegiate held Monday at the Wilson Country Club (par 72; 6851 yards). The final round of the 36-hole tournament will be held tomorrow morning.

SAVANNAH, Ga. − The Flagler College men’s golf team held off host school Armstrong Atlantic State University by one stroke to win the 36-hole AASU Pirate Invitational at the Southbridge Golf Club (par-72; 6922 yards) Tuesday afternoon. Flagler finished with 577 strokes. 16th-ranked (Golf World/NIKE Division II Coaches Poll) finished fifth.
