Hoffman earns berth to U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships
Ian Hoffman is just four shots behind the leader after carding a 149 through the first 36 holes of the Panther Invitational.
Ian Hoffman qualified for the 2009 U.S. Public Links Championship which will be held July 13-18 in Norman, Okla.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Former Flagler College men’s golfer Ian Hoffman carded an even-par 72 on the final day of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Qualifier which concluded Tuesday (June 23) at the St. Johns Golf and Country Club. He finished the two-day tournament with a 5-under 139 and finished third overall which automatically qualifies him for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship July 13-18 at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.

Hoffman led after the first round with a 67. He held off the fourth place finisher, Kevin Aylwin, by four strokes to earn the automatic berth. Aylwin and Logan Blondell will serve as alternates.

Julian Suri and Tommy Murray tied for first with identical 138’s to join Hoffman in Oklahoma.

Hoffman played at Flagler from 2003-07. He tied for first place at the MFCU Intercollegiate at Camp LeJune, N.C. on Apr. 1, 2007 and took first place at the SCAD Invitational Oct. 30, 2005.

WILSON, N.C. − The 21st-ranked (Golf World/NIKE Division II Coaches Poll) Flagler College men’s golf team leads the 15-team field by three strokes over the host school, 10th-ranked Barton College, in the Holiday Inn & Express Suites Barton College Intercollegiate held Monday at the Wilson Country Club (par 72; 6851 yards). The final round of the 36-hole tournament will be held tomorrow morning.

SAVANNAH, Ga. − The Flagler College men’s golf team held off host school Armstrong Atlantic State University by one stroke to win the 36-hole AASU Pirate Invitational at the Southbridge Golf Club (par-72; 6922 yards) Tuesday afternoon. Flagler finished with 577 strokes. 16th-ranked (Golf World/NIKE Division II Coaches Poll) finished fifth.
