Alt and Miller win Southeast Region doubles "B" flight title

Deon Miller teamed with Roxane Alt to win the "B" flight doubles crown.
SUMTER, S.C. – The Flagler College women’s tennis team members finished the third day of the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The tournament continues through to Monday.

On Sunday, in the women’s singles “B” flight quarterfinals, Chelsea Taylor (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep) defeated Julie Halbert 6-2 and 7-5 while Lauren Pfeiffer downed Ewa Opala 6-2 and 6-2. Pfeiffer then bested her teammate Taylor 6-4 and 6-3 in the semifinals.

In the women’s doubles “B” flight semifinals, Roxane Alt (Montreaux, Switzerland/Lewis & Clark CC) and Deon Miller (Miami, Fla./Dr. Michael Krop HS) defeated Fisher and McKenna 8-3. In the finals, Alt and Miller edged Anderson and Galegos 8-5.

Alt lost in the women’s singles “B” flight to Vokka Nahatilo 6-4 and 6-3.

ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 13 (Campbell’s/ITA Division II Preseason Top 25) Flagler College women’s tennis program and 33rd-year head coach Walter Shinn announced the 2012 schedule today. Flagler will play 18 matches, eight of which will be played at the Flagler Tennis Center.

SUMTER, S.C. – The Flagler College women’s tennis team played in the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships last weekend at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The tournament was interrupted by rain and many of the final matches were conducted on home courts.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College’s Rachel Gould and Gabby Scammacca both earned Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Women’s Tennis Team honors, as released this afternoon by conference officials. Both were named honorable mention.
