Flagler's Jud Damon joins NFL great Pete Banaszak at Navy League event

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Flagler College Director of Athletics Jud Damon and former Oakland Raider star running back Pete Banaszak were guests at the Navy League's reception honoring the 2009 Coast Guard Sailors of the Year.

Damon and Banaszak helped honor: MK3 Carlos Lopes on being named 2009 Guardian of the Year for the Coast Guard cutter, Kingfisher; EM2 John Melvin on being selected as the 2009 Guardian of the Year for the USCG Aids to Navigation Team, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and Captain Andy Blomme, USCG. He is the Commander of USCG’s Sector Jacksonville (from King’s Bay, Georgia to Port Canaveral, Fla.) as well as Captain of the Port of Jacksonville (responsible for all seaborne traffic in/out of Jacksonville.)

CLEVELAND, Ohio − Flagler College had 17 of its student-athletes recognized by the Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA). The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. Flagler was also one-of-five Peach Belt Conference member institutions to have student-athletes honored.
