Flagler women roll past Augusta State, 69-57

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Jalisa Foster (St. Petersburg, Fla./Pinellas Park HS) led a balanced scoring attack with a team-high 13 points to help lead Flagler College to a 69-57 win over Augusta State University in a Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gym. The game was also part of the national WBCA Pink Zone® initiative which raises breast cancer awareness though basketball.

Flagler snapped a three-game losing streak an improved to 8-16 overall and 3-12 in the Peach Belt. Augusta State lost its 22nd game in a row and fell to 1-24 overall and 0-16 in the conference.

Arianna Roper (Niceville, Fla./Niceville HS) and Jen Mitchell (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) each tallied 11 points coming off the bench and Mitchell registered a team-high seven assists. Adrienne Donelson (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson HS) added 10 points. Chanti Beckett (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield HS) chipped in with nine points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Saints.

Flagler shot a season-best 53.7% (22-41) from the floor, including a 62.5% (10-16) mark in the first half.

Blaire Egardo scored a game-high 20 points and made six three-pointers to lead the Lady Jaguars. Kirsten Stallings came off the bench to score 12 points and Eboni Davis finished with 10 points and a game-high eight assists.

Augusta State struggled from the field shooting 35.1% (20-57), including 25% (7-28) in the first half. ASU went 9:36 in the first half without scoring a point. The Lady Jags grabbed 13 offensive rebounds which led to 16 second chance points.

Flagler held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half, but managed to withstand a 10-2 burst by Augusta State to knock its lead to 52-48 with 7:05 left, but the Saints answered with a run of their own, 14-3, to take a commanding 66-51 lead with 3:30 left.

Flagler heads back out on the road to meet seventh-ranked (USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25) Lander University at Greenwood, S.C., on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
