LAKE WORTH, Fla. − Jose Rohena (Tampa, Fla./St. Petersburg College) went 3-for-6 with a grand slam home run, two runs scored and five runs batted to help power Flagler College to a 13-0 rout of Palm Beach Atlantic University in a non-conference baseball game Friday night at Dave Manzo Park.

Flagler improved to 4-4 on the season while PBA is still looking for its first win of the season after six games.

Rohena's blast came in Flagler's seven-run fifth inning. The inning started with singles from Ollie Bertrand (Sainte-Adele, Quebec/Monroe CC), Payne Maddox (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) and Travis Coverston (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep). Tyler Vanover (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Providence HS) hit a bases loaded grounder to shortstop and Coverston was forced out, but the Saints took a 6-0 lead. After Cale Owen (Clearwater, Fla./home school) was hit by a pitch to re-load the bases and the next batter retired, Rohena hit his first home run of the season down the left field line to clear the bases and Flagler took a 10-0 lead. PBA starter Buddy Fisher was chased from the game and Alejandro De Moya came in and gave up a base hit to Zach Bove (Winter Haven, Fla./Central Florida CC) and Dagmar Pena (Jacksonville, Fla./U. of Tampa) belted a triple which scored Bove, and then scored on a wild pitch.

Flagler pounded out 19 hits, 16 of which were singles.

Owen led the way with five singles and three runs scored. Bertrand singled twice, doubled, scored a run and drove in another. Coverston singled twice and Vanover had a two-run single in the second inning.

Jonathan Armold (Fort Lauderdle, Fla./Pine Crest School ) (2-0) tossed seven shutout innings, scattered seven hits and fanned eight to pick up the win.

Scott Urbanek singled twice for the Sailfish. Fisher (0-1) went four and two-thirds innings and surrendered 11 hits and eight earned runs, but did strike out five batters.

The same two teams meet in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
