Flagler wins AASU Pirate Invite by a stroke

SAVANNAH, Ga. − The Flagler College men’s golf team held off host school Armstrong Atlantic State University by one stroke to win the 36-hole AASU Pirate Invitational at the Southbridge Golf Club (par-72; 6922 yards) Tuesday afternoon. Flagler finished with 577 strokes. 16th-ranked (Golf World/NIKE Division II Coaches Poll) finished fifth.

Ben Lasso of Queens University of Charlotte took home medalist honors with a 4-under par 140. He shot a final round 5-under 67 which was the best score posted in the tournament. Only three players broke par.

Andrew Pressentin (Estero, Fla./Miami Palmetto HS), who was the leader in the clubhouse yesterday, shot a 1-over 73 this afternoon and finished third with a 2-under 142. Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartam Trail HS) finished eighth with a 1-over 145. Patrick Lamb (Lake Wales, Fla./Western Carolina U.), Chris Bray (Hilliard, Fla./Hilliard HS) and Alex Bennett (Rochester, Mich./Scottsdale CC) all finished in a tie for ninth place with a 3-over 147. Bray shaved five strokes of his total from yesterday.

Flagler will participate in the Barton Intercollegiate in Wilson, N.C., Mar. 7-9.
