COLUMBUS, Ga. – No. 8 (ITA Division II) Columbus State bested No. 46 Flagler College 9-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Blackmon Tennis Center.

Columbus State improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Peach Belt while Flagler fell to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.

The Lady Cougars opened by sweeping through doubles play as Loriane Favoretto and Hanane Toumi defeated Chelsi de Cuba (Fort Pierce, Fla./Vero Beach HS) and Lauren Pfeiffer (Fort Pierce, Fla./Florida Gulf Coast U.) 8-3. Tracy Castillo and Caterina Kiefer topped Veronica Figueroa (Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) and Jennifer Saviano (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) 8-2 while Gabriela Vasilescu and Sofia Persson downed Chelsea Taylor (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep) and Rachel Gould (Toronto, Ontario/Vaughan Road Acdemy) 8-3.

Columbus State won all but one singles flights in straight sets. Saviano forced a third set tiebreaker against Kiefer at No. 4 singles. Kiefer won 6-2, 3-6 and 10-2.

Flagler heads to Orlando to take on the University of Tampa on Mar. 4 at 3 p.m.
