The Flagler women move up to No. 23 in latest ITA poll.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Flagler College women’s tennis team moved up to No. 23 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Top 50 Poll released Wednesday. The Saints opened the season ranked No. 46. The Flagler women are also ranked No. 5 in the Southeast Region.

Like the men’s poll, the Peach Belt Conference is well represented with seven schools, headed by two-time defending national champion Armstrong Atlantic State University topping the poll. Francis Marion University is No. 4, followed by Columbus State University (No. 8), Clayton State University (No. 11), Augusta State University (No. 29), Georgia College & State University (No. 31), and Lander University (No. 35).

The Southeast Region poll is as follows: 1) AASU; 2) Francis Marion; 3) Columbus State; 4) Clayton State; 5) Flagler; 6) Augusta State; 7) GCSU; 8) Lander; 9) Erskine; and, 10) Lees-McRae.

The Flagler women take on the University of Tampa this afternoon in Orlando

ST. AUGUSTINE – The No. 13 (Campbell’s/ITA Division II Preseason Top 25) Flagler College women’s tennis program and 33rd-year head coach Walter Shinn announced the 2012 schedule today. Flagler will play 18 matches, eight of which will be played at the Flagler Tennis Center.

SUMTER, S.C. – The Flagler College women’s tennis team played in the USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Southeast Regional Championships last weekend at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The tournament was interrupted by rain and many of the final matches were conducted on home courts.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College’s Rachel Gould and Gabby Scammacca both earned Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Women’s Tennis Team honors, as released this afternoon by conference officials. Both were named honorable mention.
