Ferguson earns All-Peach Belt honors

D.J. Ferguson was selected to the All-Peach Belt Conference third team Friday night.
AIKEN, S.C. − D.J. Ferguson (Orlando, Fla./Bishop Moore HS) was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Third Team which was released Friday night at the basketball tournament banquet at the Convocation Center.

Ferguson, a 6-foot-1 junior guard, averaged 11.3 points and a nation’s-best 9.4 assists per game while helping lead Flagler to an 11-16 overall record and a 6-12 mark in conference play in the school’s inaugural season in the league. He shot 72% (103-143) from the free throw line and averaged 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Ferguson also boasted a Peach Belt-best 2.25 assist-turnover ratio. He is also No. 8 in the conference in steals per game.

In conference games alone, Ferguson averaged 12.6 points and 8.6 assists per game. He shot 75% (84-112) from the free throw line.

Ferguson scored a season-high 22 points vs. UNC Pembroke on Feb. 6 and dished out a season-high 15 assists vs. P.R.-Mayaguez on Nov. 19.

Earlier in the season, he became the school’s all-time leader in assists and ended the season with 646. His 254 assists this year fell just seven shy of tying the PBC’s single-season record.
