LONGWOOD, Fla. − The Flagler College women’s golf team finished in 11th place in a highly competitive field at the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational which wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at the Alaqua Country Club (par 72; 5,934 yards). The Saints finished strong with a 337 which shaved five strokes off their second round total and finished with 1,019 strokes. Top-ranked (NCAA Division II Coaches Poll) Nova Southeastern University took home team honors with a 900 and was 12 strokes better than Daytona State College, the top-ranked team in the NJCAA.

Seven teams are ranked in the current NCAA Division II Top 25, two more are in the NCAA Division III Top 25 (including top-ranked Methodist University) and two teams ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 (including top-ranked Daytona State).

Sandra Changkija of NSU led throughout and took home medalist honors with a 7-under par 209. She was the lone player to break par in the 75-woman field.

Kaitlyn Edwards (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) finished in a tie for 41st place with a 28-over 244. She shot an 8-over 80 this afternoon. Laura Martellino (Valrico, Fla./Durant HS) carded a 250 and finished in a three-way tie for 48th place. She shot a team-best, for the tournament, 78 this afternoon. Elin Karlsson (Vanerborg, Sweden/Vaxjo Fria Gymnasium) finished in a tie for 58th place with a 261. Dana Quinn (Alachua, Fla./Santa Fe HS) finished in 65th place with a 266 while Marissa Marinan (Niceville, Fla./Niceville HS) rounded out the Flagler scorers with a 275 and finished in 68th place.

Flagler will play in the Eagle Invitational at Daytona Beach this Friday through Sunday (Mar. 12-14).
