AUGUSTA, Ga. –
David Cotrone (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Christian School) of Flagler College was selected to the Peach Belt Conference’s Men’s Tennis All-Academic First-Team which was released Wednesday morning by conference officials.
Cotrone is currently ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II in singles and is half of the ninth-ranked doubles team. More importantly, he is holding a 3.52 grade point average in a dual major of business and religion.
Cotrone, a first-team All-Peach Belt selection in both singles and doubles, is 17-3 this season playing No. 1 singles. He is 4-3 against nationally ranked competition and is 7-3 against regionally ranked opponents. Cotrone started the season winning 14 consecutive singles matches. Teamed with
Gino Ramirez (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Dr. Michael Krop HS), the duo are 13-7 overall playing No. 1 doubles and are 4-4 against nationally ranked tandems and 5-5 against regionally ranked pairs.
Flagler will take on Limestone College in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tomorrow (May 6) at 10 a.m. in Savannah, Ga.
