Flagler places 90 student-athletes on PBC President's Honor Roll

Flagler is well represented on the PBC Presidential Honor Roll

AUGUSTA, Ga. − The Peach Belt Conference has announced that 1,080 student-athletes have been named to the Presidential Honor Roll from the league office in Augusta. Flagler College put 90 of its student-athletes on the honor roll. The Presidential Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes at the 13 PBC member institutions who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.

The honor roll has been divided into four groups: Presidential Scholars, Bronze Scholars, Silver Scholars and Gold Scholars. All student-athletes with a GPA from 3.0 to 3.24 are Presidential Scholars while Bronze Scholars are 3.25 to 3.49; Silver 3.50 to 3.74 and Gold Scholars are those with a 3.75 to 4.00.

The 1,080 student-athletes honored is an increase of 248 from last season's total and the first time the conference has honored more than 1,000 student-athletes in its 20-year history. Each student-athlete will receive a certificate from the conference office.

Gold Scholars from Flagler are: Lauren Bailie (Loganville, Ga./Loganville HS), Charlsea Owen (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) and Jen Knurek (Orlando, Fla./Lake Mary HS) from women's basketball; Becca Hoadley (Jacksonville, Fla./Florida State College-Jacksonville), Laura McKnight (Jupiter, Fla./Jupiter HS), April Robinson (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) and Madeleine Wagner (New Port Richey, Fla./J.W. Mitchell HS) from women's cross country; Eileen New (Mims, Fla./Astronaut HS), Ryan Pando (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo HS) and Kincaid Schmidt (Palmetto, Fla./Palmetto HS) from women's soccer; Justine Burkhardt (St. Augustine, Fla./Winthrop University), Becky Hendrian (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton HS), Rebecca Royal (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Fleming Island HS) and Olivia Snipes (Easley, S.C./Easley HS) from volleyball; Johan Bergfeld (Akers Styckebruk, Sweden/Rekarnegymnasiet) and Dan Reid (Dublin, Ireland/University of Dublin) from men's soccer; and, Alex Bonus (Hershey, Pa./Palmyra Area HS) and Ben Joslin (Melrose, Mass./Melrose HS) from men's cross country.

Silver Scholars are: Payne Maddox (Jacksonville, Fla./Stanton College Prep) from baseball; Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome HS) from men's golf; Greg Taafe (Dorset, England/Lenoir-Rhyne University) and #T.J. Day# (Palm Harbor, Fla./Dunedin HS) from men's soccer; Tim Hansson (Norrkoping, Sweden/Mercyhurst College) from men's tennis; Chelsea Taylor (Bradenton, Fla./Bradenton Prep Academy), Gabby Scammacca (Sugarloaf Key, Fla./Key West HS) and Rachel Gould (Toronto, Ontario/Vaughan Road Academy) from women's tennis; Sarah Zambor (Jackson, N.J./Monsignor Donovan HS), KayKay Shaffer (Jacksonville, Fla./Duncan U. Flagler College, located in St. Augustine, Fla., is a member of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division II and the Peach Belt Conference and sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports. Flagler became a full member of NCAA Division II in the summer of 2008 and a member of the Peach Belt last summer.
