ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − The Flagler College volleyball program rounded out this year’s recruiting class with five recruits, head coach Taylor Mott announced today. Members of the incoming class are: Dianna Craine (Oshawa, Ontario/University of Tulsa/Eastside Collegiate and Vocational Institute), Amanda Dougherty (Coplay, Pa./Parkland HS), Emilee Taylor (Temple Terrace, Fla./Armwood HS), Taylor Willis (Zephyrhills, Fla./Zephyrhills HS) and Melissa Woodall (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS).

“I am excited about this year’s group of signees and look forward to their joining the Flagler volleyball program on campus this fall,” said Mott. “They possess the size, quickness and athleticism that will make them great assets to our program in the seasons ahead.”

Craine, a sophomore, is a transfer from the University of Tulsa, a member of NCAA Division I. The 6-foot outside hitter played in 10 matches and started one for the 26-7 Golden Hurricane. She recorded a season-high six kills at UTEP and also had a season-high 11 digs in the same match. Craine received an invitation to train for the Canadian Junior National Team in 2007 and has helped lead her club team to several provincial titles. In 2004-05, she received the Ontario Volleyball Award of Excellence.

Dougherty, a 5-foot-10 setter, was nominated for the Pennsylvania Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year and was a two-time all-state selection. She was also a four-time all-Lehigh Valley Conference member. Dougherty tallied 574 assists and averaged 8.4 per set. She also tallied 38 total blocks including 29 solo and recorded a .449 attack percentage.

Taylor, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, was a second-team all-Tampa Bay Area selection by the St. Petersburg Times and the Tampa Tribune while playing at Armwood High. She helped lead the Hawks to a regional final last fall as well as a district title. Taylor averaged 6.0 kills per set and ranked second in the county in service aces averaging 1.3 per set.

Willis, a 6-foot-2 right side, was a second-team all-county selection at Zephyrhills High. She was a two-time all-Sunshine Athletic Conference selection and was selected the conference’s Player of the Year in 2009. As a senior, Willis recorded 246 kills, 92 blocks and tallied 62 aces.

Woodall, a 5-foot-7 defensive specialist, helped lead the Lady Trojans to the Georgia State final four last year, and a third place finish in 2008. She earned first-team all-region and all-area honors as a senior and was a two-time all-county selection. Woodall averaged 3.82 digs per set and 0.47 aces per set.

The quintet join early signee Sophie Meyer (Orlando, Fla./The Geneva School) in the 2010 recruiting class.

Flagler is coming off a banner 36-9 season where it went to the NCAA Division II national tournament semifinal. The Saints are the defending Peach Belt Conference and Southeast Region champions. Flagler lost three starters from last year’s team.
