Chris Bray (Hilliard, Fla./Hilliard HS) and rising junior
Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) finished in the top 20 of the Jacksonville Area Golf Association’s City amateur which concluded Sunday at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
Bray finished third with a 5-under par 283 for the 72-hole tournament. He finished just four strokes behind the champion, Major Forbess from the University of North Florida, who finished with a 9-under 279. Bray carded a 3-under 69 in the first round and shot a 1-under 71 in the second round. After a 5-over 77 in the third round, he blistered the course by shooting the best round in the tournament – a 6-under 66 – to get back under par.
Dahlenburg finished 19th with a 12-over 300. He shot a 6-over 78 in the first round, but followed with an even par 72 in the second round. Dahlenburg shot a 2-over 74 for the third round before carding a 4-over 76 on Sunday.
By finishing in the top 25, both Bray and Dahlenburg receive exemptions for the 2011 JAGA City Amateur.
