Chris Bray and Joel Dahlenburg excel at JAGA City Amateur

Chris Bray finished third at the JAGA City Amateur. Dahlenburg placed 19th.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. − Flagler College rising senior Chris Bray (Hilliard, Fla./Hilliard HS) and rising junior Joel Dahlenburg (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS) finished in the top 20 of the Jacksonville Area Golf Association’s City amateur which concluded Sunday at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

Bray finished third with a 5-under par 283 for the 72-hole tournament. He finished just four strokes behind the champion, Major Forbess from the University of North Florida, who finished with a 9-under 279. Bray carded a 3-under 69 in the first round and shot a 1-under 71 in the second round. After a 5-over 77 in the third round, he blistered the course by shooting the best round in the tournament – a 6-under 66 – to get back under par.

Joel Dahlenburg

Dahlenburg finished 19th with a 12-over 300. He shot a 6-over 78 in the first round, but followed with an even par 72 in the second round. Dahlenburg shot a 2-over 74 for the third round before carding a 4-over 76 on Sunday.

By finishing in the top 25, both Bray and Dahlenburg receive exemptions for the 2011 JAGA City Amateur.

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Last Saturday (Oct. 15), Flagler College Director of Golf Santiago Cavanagh was honored by his alma mater, Lincoln Memorial University, by welcoming him in its Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011 held at Tex Turner Arena. Cavanagh and five other Lincoln Memorial alums were so honored as par of its Homecoming Weekend festivities.
