ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Flagler College head women’s soccer coach Teddy Meyer officially announced his recruiting class for this upcoming season. He will welcome 10 student-athletes to campus and the pitch this fall. Members of the class are: Taylor Adkins (Evansville, Ind./Francis Joseph Reitz HS), Cristina Coca (Riverview, Fla./Bloomingdale Senior HS/Saint Leo University), Brittany D’Addio (Delray Beach, Fla./Pope John Paul II HS), Alicia Jacobson (St. Augustine, Fla./Bartram Trail HS), Jessica Jagielski (New Port Richey, Fla./J.W. Mitchell HS), Hannah Linton (Cocoa, Fla./Merritt Island HS), Haley Powers (Coppell, Texas/Coppell HS), Krystel Taylor (Niceville, Fla./Niceville HS), Tara Whitaker (Fernandina Beach, Fla./Fernandina Beach HS) and Brittany Will (Osteen, Fla./DeLand HS).
Adkins, a 5-foot-4 forward, had her senior season cut short due to injury, but had a great career having scored 44 goals and tallied 46 assists. She earned second-team all-conference despite only playing in nine matches, but earned honorable mention All-State honors as a junior after scoring a team-high 17 goals and adding 15 assists. Adkins was the second leading scorer in Evansville. She scored 18 goals as a freshman which earned her offensive most valuable player honors. Adkins helped lead the team to three sectional titles.
Coca, a 5-foot-8 goalkeeper, comes to Flagler from Saint Leo University. As a freshman, she played and started in 14 matches. Coca had a 1.60 goals against average, recorded three shutouts and tallied 54 saves. At Bloomingdale, she was a four-time all-county selection, earning first-team honors during her freshman and junior seasons. Coca had a career 0.52 GAA. She was also a Class 5A All-State selection and helped lead the team to the state finals as a freshman.
D’Addio, a 5-foot-5 forward, had a spectacular high school career at Pope John Paul II High. She was the Palm Beach Post’s Player of the Year the last two seasons and was a first-team all-area selection all four seasons. D’Addio was also a four-time Sun Sentinel al-county selection. She also holds the distinction of being the only Pope John Paul II player to score 100 or more goals and tally 100 or more assists. As a juionr, D’Addio scored 37 goals and added 27 assists and as a senior she scored 36 goals and registered 31 assists which earned her the Palm Beach Post’s small school girls’ soccer player of the year. She also helped the Eagles reach the regional tournament in each of her four years, including a run to the Class 2A regional final this past season.
Jacobson, a 5-foot-3 midfielder, is a local product out of Bartram Trail High where she helped lead the Bears to the Class 4A state championship match. This past season, she scored nine goals and added nine assists as Bartram Trail posted a 24-3-1 record. Jacobson earned All-First Coast third-team honors by The Florida Times-Union and also garnered honorable mention honors by The St. Augustine Record. She scored 29 goals and tallied 17 assists and helped lead the Bears to a regional semifinal as a junior.
Jagielski is a 5-foot-4 midfielder who was a three-time all-conference selection at J.W. Mitchell High. She was also an honorable mention all-North Suncoast selection as a junior. In her career, Jagielski has scored 25 goals and tallied 47 assists.
Linton, a 5-foot-5 forward, helped lead Merritt Island High to its first Class 4A State championship this past winter and was one of the team’s captains.
Powers is a 5-foot-7 midfielder from a school with a strong soccer tradition in Texas – Coppell High. She helped lead the Cowgirls to the Class 5A State title in 2009 and a No. 4 raking nationally. Powers was also an honorable mention all-district selection.
Taylor, a 5-foot-5 defender, was a first-team all-area selection as a junior helped lead Niceville High to the postseason as a junior and a senior.
Whitaker is a 5-foot-6 forward who starred at nearby Fernandina Beach High. She captained the Lady Pirates as a senior and played in the First Coast All-Star Game.
Will, a 5-foot-3 defender, was a two-time all-area selection and helped lead DeLand High to the district title this past winter. After scoring 15 goals and adding five assists as a junior forward, Will made the move to defender.
Flagler will open the regular season on Sept. 3 at the Queens University of Charlotte at 6 p.m.
