VERO BEACH, Fla. − Flagler College signee Chipper Hughes (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra HS) won the Bobby Jones Bracket of the Florida State Golf Association's Junior (ages 16-18) Match Play Championship at the Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach which concluded July 31.

Hughes, the top seed in the 16-man field, defeated Trent Strafaci of Davie 4 and 3 to win the title. Hughes won his first round match against David Santiago 5 and 4 to advance to the quarterfinals. He defeated Calvin Rosser 5 and 4 to move to the semifinals. Hughes bested Nicholas Jones 6 and 5 to advance to the final.

The Flagler men's golf fall season opens Sept 6-7 at the Kiawah Island (S.C.) Invitational.
