BANNER ELK, N.C. − Conor Killeen (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) scored two goals to help lead Flagler College to a 3-0 season opening win over No. 2 (NSCAA/NCAA Division II) Lees-McRae College Friday night at Tate Field in the Michael Shope Memorial Tournament. Last year, Lees-McRae was the national runners-up in Division II.

Mack Hough (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) got the Saints on the board first when he took Will Frandsen's (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) throw-in and drove into the box and finished in the 8th minute.

Killeen got the first of his two tallies in the 16th minute when he received a long cross pass from Arnel Selman (Jacksonville, Fla./Wolfson HS) and found the back of the net, sneaking the ball inside the far post. His second goal came off a Johan Bergfeld (Akers Styckebruk, Sweden/Rekarnegymnasiet) through ball in the 78th minute.

Matt Gilman (Ocala, Fla./Jacksonville U.) recorded the shutout as he turned away four shots on goal.

His counterpart across the way, Thomas Rusling, tallied three saves.

The Bobcats out-shot the Saints 18-13, including 14-8 in the second half. Flagler had three-of-the-four corner kicks and held a 16-8 edge in fouls.

Next up for Flagler will be King College tomorrow (Sept. 4) at 7 p.m. to wrap-up the tournament.
