BANNER ELK, N.C. − The 22nd-ranked (AVCA Division II) Flagler College volleyball team won two match to begin the 2010 campaign and also the Carolinas Challenge Friday afternoon at the Williams Physical Education Center.
Flagler started the day with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-10) win over Coker College and then won a barn-burner over Peach Belt Conference-rival USC Aiken 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 26-28, 27-25, 15-5) to cap the evening. For the day,
Meg Weathersby (Maitland, Fla./Orangewood Christian) hit .421 with 39 kills on 76 swings. She also recorded four total blocks.
Dianna Craine (Oshawa, Ontario/University of Tulsa) made her debut with 21 digs.
In the opener, Weathersby tallied a match-high 12 kills and did not have an attack error on 19 swing for a red-hot .632 percentage.
Crystal Niederriter (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS) added six kills while Craine tacked on four kills, served up three aces and recorded four digs for the Saints.
Rebecca Royal (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Fleming Island HS) tallied 18 assists while
Olivia Snipes (Easley, S.C./Easley HS) added 14 assists and five digs.
Coker (0-1) was led by Katie McElveen's five kills while Cynallhia Indriago paced the Cobra defense with seven digs. Molly Beekhart added 11 assists.

Weathersby led the way against USC Aiken with a match-high 27 kills and added 13 digs to complete the double-double. She hit .351 for the match. Niederriter added 18 kills and three total blocks while
Rachel Stacy (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek HS) tallied eight kills and eight digs. Craine paced the defense with 17 digs and Royal record seven total blocks to go along with 38 assists.
Shannon Byers led the Pacers (1-1) with 14 kills and 14 digs. Samantha Lukralle registered 18 digs and Ashley Farwell tallied 27 assists.
Flagler will take on Wingate University at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Sept. 4) at 1 p.m. and then conclude the tournament against the host school, Lees-McRae College at 5:30 p.m.
