CHARLOTTE, N.C. − Lindsay Godwin’s header in the 74th minute broke a 1-1 tie and lifted Pfeiffer University to a 2-1 win over Flagler College in a non-conference women’s soccer match Sunday afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The match was part of the Queens University of Charlotte Tournament.
Pfeiffer improves to 2-0 on the season while Flagler falls to 1-1.
Godwin headed in the goal off a cross pass from Sheena Regan. Alyssa Wombwell scored the match’s first goal off an assist from Mariah Martinez in the 29th minute.
Lindsay Zullo (Hudson, Fla./Hudson HS) scored the equalizer for Flagler in the 50th minute. She headed in a pass from
Loren Cate (Apopka, Fla./Apopka HS).
Jamie Alcala tallied five saves for the Falcons.
Cristina Coca (Riverview, Fla./Saint Leo University) faced six shots with two on goal.
Flagler out-shot Pfeiffer 10-6 and each team took two corner kicks. The Falcons were whistled for six fouls and Flagler three.
Flagler takes on 24th-ranked (NAIA) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at Daytona Beach, Fla.
