DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. − Martine Olsen scored two goals and assisted on another as No. 14 (NAIA) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University defeated Flagler College 5-2 in a non-conference women’s soccer match at the ERAU Soccer Stadium Wednesday night.

Embry-Riddle won its fourth match in a row to improve to 4-1 while Flagler lost its second in a row to drop to 1-2.

Loren Cate (Apopka, Fla./Apopka HS) got the Saints on the board first when she booted in a shot from 30 yards out in the 27th minute.

However, Valerie Obita scored the equalizer when she took a pass from Kara Haack and streaked down the field and beat the keeper in the 30th minute. Shortly thereafter, Flagler’s starting keeper, Christie Reuther (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview HS) came out of the game and was replaced by Cristina Coca (Riverview, Fla./Saint Leo U.).

Cate missed on a pair off attempts following the ERAU goal. Her first went wide and the second was saved.

Olsen scored the first of her two goals, after receiving a pass from Elina Johansson, in the 39th minute. The Eagles took a 2-1 lead into the half.

The same duo, Olsen and Johansson, were responsible for the third goal, this one in the 47th minute. Olsen headed in a cross from Johansson.

Bjorg Olafs headed in a corner kick from Cecilie Henriksen in the 69th minute to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead.

Johansson was the beneficiary of a pass from Olsen and scored in the 71st minute to give Embry-Riddle a 5-1 advantage.

In the 80th minute, a Flagler player was fouled in the box and Lindsay Zullo (Hudson, Fla./Hudson HS) converted the penalty kick.

Jennifer Grimes made three saves for Embry-Riddle and Coca recorded four for Flagler.

The Eagles out-shot the Saints 16-12, including an 11-6 spread in the second half. Flagler held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks and was whistled for 11-of-the-20 fouls.

Flagler will conclude its four-match season-opening road trip on Saturday (Sept. 11) in the Peach Belt Conference opener at the University of Montevallo at 5 p.m. (Central).
