HARROGATE, Tenn. – Last Saturday (Oct. 15), Flagler College Director of Golf Santiago Cavanagh was honored by his alma mater, Lincoln Memorial University, by welcoming him in its Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011 held at Tex Turner Arena. Cavanagh and five other Lincoln Memorial alums were so honored as par of its Homecoming Weekend festivities.

Cavanagh was a four-year letter winner in men's golf at Lincoln Memorial. The native Argentinean is the first golfer in the modern era to join the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame. Cavanagh was the first Railsplitter to compete in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Currently, he still ranks first in the program's history in scoring average (73.70), scoring average for a season (73.05), best season won-loss percentage (.938) and best career won-loss percentage (.906).

Cavanagh is in his fourth year as Flagler's Director of Golf. In 2010, he was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Men's Golf coach of the Year and coached the women's team to the inaugural PBC Tournament Championship in the same year. In the spring of 2011, the Flagler men's golf team claimed the men's conference title.
