SAINT LEO  – The No. 22 (Golf World/NGCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's golf team finished in ninth place with a 70-over par 646 at the Saint Leo Invitational which concluded Tuesday morning at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (par: 72; yards: 6063).

As a team, the Saints shaved six strokes off its first round total (326) with a 320. The host school, No. 9 Saint Leo University, won the tournament with a 33-over 609. They edged out No. 1 Florida Southern College (+35, 611). Seminole State (Fla.) College finished third with a 44-over 620 while No. 25 Barry University followed in fourth place with a 47-over 623. No. 18 Northeastern (Okla.) State University rounded out the top five with a 49-over 625.

Elia Floch Sola of Seminole State earned medalist honors after winning the second playoff hole against Florida Tech's Jessica Hook. Both finished with 4-over 148's. Amy Hodgkinson of Florida Southern finished third with a 5-over 149. There was a three-way tie for fourth place which included yesterday's leader, Meghan Moore of UNC Pembroke, who finished with a 7-over 151. Moore shot the lowest round of the tournament yesterday with a 1-under 71. Today she shot an 80.

Nicole Keyser (Cary, N.C., Green Hope HS) led the Flagler contingent with a 13-over 157 and tied for 23rd place. She shot a 79 this morning. Leslie Choucard (Chessy, France, Mercer University) knocked three strokes off her first round tally and carded a 79 to finish in a tie for 34th place with a 17-over 161. Marie Santacroce (Mattituck, N.Y., Mattituck HS) tied for 40th place with an 18-over 162. Marie Santacroce (Mattituck, N.Y., Mattituck HS) followed with a 22-over 166 to finish in a tie for 52nd place. Marissa Marinan (Niceville, Fla, Niceville HS) placed 60th with a 30-over 174.

Lauren Benetti (Celebration, Fla., Daytona State College), playing as an individual, tied for 29th place with a 15-over 159.

Flagler will now set its sights on the ninth annual Flagler Fall Slam on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 24-25) at the Marsh Creek Country Club.
