SKILLMAN, N.J. – The Flagler College women's tennis team open the 2012 season ranked No. 13 in the preseason Campbell's/ITA Division II Top 25, which was released recently.
The Saints finished last season ranked No. 13 after they finished with a 12-7 overall record and lost in the Savannah Region final.
Flagler is one of five Peach Belt Conference schools ranked in the top 25. Only the Sunshine State Conference had more schools ranked with six.
Lynn University, last year's national runners-up, is the preseason No. 1 team. Brigham Young University of Hawai'i is second and followed by PBC favorite Armstrong Atlantic State University. Defending national champion Barry University is picked fourth followed by Hawai'i Pacific University.
Joining Flagler and Armstrong in the preseason rankings is: No. 7 Clayton State University; No. 12 Columbus State University; and, No. 16 Georgia College.
The Saints are ranked No. 4 in the Southeast Region.
Flagler opens the 2012 season on Feb. 22 at No. 9 Rollins College at Winter Park. Flagler opens at home on Mar. 3 against North Georgia College & State University.
