Flagler women’s soccer team earns academic honor

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Flagler College women's soccer team were recognized for their excellence in the classroom this afternoon. The Saints were one of 568 women's soccer teams to earn a 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award after posting a cumulative 3.27 grade point average.

Flagler had three Academic All-Peach Belt Conference honorees this fall – Loren Cate (Apopka, Fla., Apopka HS), Rafaela Faria (Florianopolis, Brazil, Universidade Federal De Santa Catarina) and Tara Whitaker (Fernandina Beach, Fla., Fernandina Beach HS). Haley Powers (Coppell, Texas, Coppell HS), Krystel Taylor (Niceville, Fla., Niceville HS) and Jessica Jagielski (New Port Richey, Fla., J.W. Mitchell HS) earned honorable mention honors.

Flagler was one of nine Peach Belt schools to earn team academic award honors. The Saints tied for the fifth highest GPA in the league. UNC Pembroke had the highest team GPA at 3.41.
