ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College senior first baseman
Breezy Collings (Orange City, Fla., Brevard CC) was selected to the 2012 Preseason All-Peach Belt Conference Team Thursday afternoon, as released by conference officials.
Collings is the second Flagler player to be selected to the preseason all-conference softball team, joining former pitcher
Kelly Riddick who was selected last year.
Collings was a second-team all-conference selection last year after batting a team-high .383 with 70 hits, nine home runs, and a conference leading 70 runs batted in. She finished with a .588 slugging percentage and posted a .997 fielding percentage. Collings committed just one error in 393 total chances.
She holds Flagler's single-season records in batting average, on-base percentage (.484), RBI, fielding percentage, and putouts (371). She is tied for first in games played (60) and started (60) as well as hits (70).
Collings earned NFCA All-Southeast Region second-team honors as well as Daktronics All-Southeast Region first-team accolades.
Flagler is coming off its best season in the brief history of the fast-pitch era with a 42-18 overall record and a 12-8 mark in conference play. The Saints made their first appearance in the NCAA postseason with a 2-2 showing at the Dahlonega Regional.
Flagler opens the season on Feb. 4 with a noon doubleheader vs. Lynn University at Flagler Field.
