ST. AUGUSTINE – Mauri Wells recorded a double-double with a 16 points and a game-high 20 rebounds to lead Armstrong Atlantic State University to a 64-52 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball game Wednesday evening at Flagler Gymnasium.

Armstrong snapped its two-game losing streak and improved to 13-9 overall and 7-7 in the Peach Belt. Flagler lost its ninth consecutive game and dropped to 2-19 overall and 1-13 in league play.

Demisha Mills added 16 points while Jazmin Walker contributed 12 points and four steals for the Pirates. D.D. Gipson came off the bench to score 12 points and grab five rebounds. Karolina Rykowska blocked four shots.

Latesha Johnson (St. Petersburg, Fla., Lakewood HS) scored 12 points and tallied for steals for the Saints. Taye'Lor Trotter (St. Petersburg, Fla., Lakewood HS) added 12 points and Charlsea Owen (St. Augustine, Fla., Pedro Menendez HS) tacked on 11 more. Treva Mason grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds.

Flagler jumped out to an early 19-11 lead, following a 6-foot jumper by Mason with 9:08 to go in the first half. Armstrong countered with a 14-4 run, with Walker scoring seven of those points, to gain a lead it would not relinquish.

The Pirates took a 33-27 lead into the half and the lead grew to as many as 13 (55-42) in the second half.

Up next for Flagler will be No. 17 (USA TODAY/ESPN Division II) Lander University on Saturday (Feb. 11) at 1:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
