Results (PDF)Team-by-team results (PDF)WINGATE, N.C. – The Flagler College women's cross country team finished in fifth place with 211 points at the 6K NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday morning at Wingate University to conclude their season.
The Rodriguez sisters, Kaitlin and Lauren, finished the race together to lead the Saints.
Kaitlin Rodriguez finished in 22
nd place with a time of 24:12.9 earning all-region honors.
Lauren Rodriguez was one-tenth of a second behind at 24:13.0 to finish in 23
rd place earning all-region accolades for the second consecutive year.
Earning the three bids to the national championship in Joplin, Missouri from the region was: the University of Montevallo, Wingate University and Queens University of Charlotte. The three individuals who advance are Nancy Murgor of Young Harris College, Olivia Rodriguez of Augusta University and Sarah Rutto of Limestone College.
Catie Bird of Queens defended her regional title as she topped the 182-woman field with a time of 22:25.3. She edged Young Harris' Murgor by 20 seconds. Murgor posted a time of 22:45.1.
Lauren Penkala finished in 45
th place with a time of 25:06.8.
Heloise Duffie de Tassigny crossed the finish line at 25:14.9 to finish in 51
st place while
Sarah Harding round out the point scorers for Flagler with a time of 25:59.6, good for a 78
th place finish.
Sarah Hammond finished in 93
rd place with a time of 26:17.6 and
Jen Gottardo posted a time of 27:40.5.
