SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Flagler College men's cross country team finished in second place at the Division II Pre-Nationals race which was held Saturday morning at the Abbey Golf Course.
Flagler tallied 62 points and was led by
Erik Hartley who finished in sixth place with a time of 27:06.26 over the 8K course.
Saint Leo led the seven-team field with 41 points. Augusta University and Wilmington University of Delaware finished third and fourth, respectively, with 78 sand 93 points.
Heading the 57-man field was Ronald Cheserek of Saint Leo with a time of 26:14.30. He bested Trey Simons of Morehouse College who finished with a time of 26:40.71.
Kray Hubner and
Andrew Smith both finished in the top 10 along with Hartley. Hubner finished in ninth place with a time of 27:26.24 while Smith finished 10
th with a time of 27:33.26.
Crisman Jones and
Trenton Liberty finished together in 20
th and 21
st places.
Jones crossed the finish line at 28:18.62 while Liberty posted a time of 28:33.60.
Sam Mack placed 36
th overall with a time of 30:22.01.
Next up for the men's cross country team will be the Peach Belt Conference Championships held at Georgia College on Oct. 22 at 9 a.m.
