Andrew Smith of the men's cross country team was selected as the Athlete of the Month, sponsored by Sleep Inn, for the month of October.

Smith was the athlete of the week for the period ending Oct. 23.

That week, Smith helped lead the Saints to their first Peach Belt Conference Championship title and the program's first outright conference championship in the program's history. The Orange Park, Florida native finished in sixth place, out of 86 runners, with a career-best 8K time of 25:26.4. That helped him earn all-conference honors for the second consecutive year in a row.

Smith and his teammates will compete in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional tomorrow at Montevallo, Alabama.
