Saints finish in fourth place at the NCAA D2 Southeast Regional

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Flagler College men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Saturday morning at the University of Montevallo. That was Flagler's best finish at an NCAA regional event since becoming eligible in 2008.

Flagler had three top 25 performances which earns the runners all-region honors. Andrew Smith, competing in his final race, blasted his career-best time in a 10K with a 31:18.67, which was over two minutes better than his previous personal record. Smith finished in 13th place which earned him his second consecutive all-region award. Kray Hubner, the PBC Freshman of the Year, was the top first-year runner at the regional. His time of 31:29.27 was good for 18th place. And the last person to earn all-region honors was Erik Hartley. The redshirt senior finished in 25th place with a personal-best time of 31:47.50, earning him his first all-region honor.

The three teams advancing to Saint Leo, Florida are: the University of Mount Olive, Mars Hill University and Queens University of Charlotte. The top three individuals moving on to nationals are: Timothy Asis of Young Harris College, Henning Schein of Armstrong State University and Tanner Cook of King University.

Topping the 169-man field was Adam Craig of Mount Olive who posted a time of 29:49.03. He finished just ahead of Timothy Asis of Young Harris who finished with a time of 30:02.40.

Trenton Liberty finished in 41st place with a time of 32:23.12. Sam Mack was not too far behind, finishing in 46th place, with a time of 32:39.24. Breaking the finish line at 32:46.66 was Crisman Jones who finished in 52nd place.
