MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Flagler College men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Florida Tech Invitational which was held Saturday morning at Wickham Park.
Flagler tallied 104 points and was led by
Erik Hartley who finished in 13
th place with a time of 26:22.82 over the 8K course.
Florida Southern College led the 11-team non-Division I field with 49 points and it had three of its runners finish in the top 10. Saint Leo University finished second with 60 points. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University finished third with 82 points.
Heading the 105-man non-D1 field was Ronald Cheserek of Saint Leo with a time of 25:08.27. He beat out Bobby Ormsby of Florida Southern who finished second with a time of 25:16.69.
Hartley's time was better than any of the NCAA Division I runners who were at the race. The schools represented from Division I were: the University of South Florida, Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University.
Andrew Smith finished in 15
th place with a time of 26:28.67.
Kray Hubner was not too far behind at 26:43.00 which was good for a 19
th place finish.
Crisman Jones posted a time of 26:55.62 and finished in 25
th place while
Sam Mack placed 35
th with a time of 27:41.34.
Trenton Liberty finished in 59
th place with a time of 28:58.98.
Next up for the men's cross country team will be the Mountain Dew Invitational held at the University of Florida on Sept. 24 at 7:55 a.m.
